A Race to the Finish

A Race to the Finish

On Currents4Kids I decided to read the article named ``A Race to the Finish``. This article is about the Barkley Marathon and its apparently the toughest marathon on the earth.

The Barkley Marathon is 160 kilometers long. You don't compete against other people you compete against time and you only get 60 hours to finish the marathon so no time can be wasted. This marathon has been in for 32 years and only 15 people have successfully completed the marathon.

In this story it is explaining the journey of Mr. Robbins he has attempted and failed the race twice and still is determined to do it until he can finish the marathon. Mr. Robbins he kept trying even though he took the wrong turn and realized it as he approached a staircase and on his map there was no stair case so he was on the other side of the mountain. He didn't just give up he pushed harder and harder to make it the finish line, he finally found a stone road with only 3 minutes to go so he dug hard and push him self but he was 6 seconds to late.

What I learned from reading this article is that giving up is not the answer even though times get tough you cant give up you have to keep trying until you succeed. Also that failure is a good thing and is always in our lifes but if all we think about is failure we will not succeed. Mr. Robbins didn't think about failure and kept going even though he almost made it he wasn't dissaponted because he tried his hardest and thought positive.
